Not much to Morehead City so moved on from here to catch the ferry to Ocrakoke on the outer banks. Great ferry crossing …. Wild waves and stormy weather to get to Okrakoke which feels very much like the isolated village that it is. Few tarmac roads and a small, tough die hard community that relies on tourism and fishing.
Visited the British Cemetery here which houses the bodies of 4 British Sailors of a boat that was sunk here by a German U-Boat.
Drove on up the coast to catch the ferry over to Cape Hatteras via the historic lighthouses en-route.
Arrived at the ludicrously expensive campsite (at $75) called Camp Hatteras to spend the night before the drive to Chesapeake.
