The drive from Rodanthe (which had excellent beaches) was great as we got to visit the first New World settlement of Roanoke (1587)......
A reproduction of one of the ships that brought them here .........
And also the site of the worlds first airplane flight by the Wright brothers at Kitty Hawk …. Our visit to the latter was truly inspirational as their determination, courage and belief could not fail to invoke some kind of feeling.........
Drove on a short way to our camp site for the night at Chesapeake ……
