TOBERUA

From the moment that we set foot on the island we knew that we had arrived in a very special place ................

We were greeted by singers and guitarists who welcomed us with the traditional droink of Kava which is a slightly narcotic drink made from plant root which numbs your tongue as well as loosening it! Following this we were shown our bure for our stay which was quite simply magnificent ....... huge room with fresh flowers placed on the bed and a wonderful open aspect (as well as an open air bathroom which looked much better than it sounds) and 3 steps down from the veranda you entered the sea .... what more could one ask for? To top it all off we were told that for two of our nine days here we would have the whole island to ourselves and that for five of the days there would only be two other couples!!!! Perfect....

The staff here were also amazingly good managing to combine just the right amount of service with friendliness ... they always seemed to know when you needed something but without hanging around all the time.

After placing our order for the stocking of the fridge (wine, beer and a few bottles of water) we quickly got into the routine of simply relaxing ............... book, wine glass in hand, relaxing on the recliner and soaking up the stunning views.
